Are you moving to a new WordPress site and noticing that there’s no easy way to migrate your Quiz and Survey Master data? The good news is a single FREE plugin will do everything you need.

Install the ARI Adminer Plugin

The ARI Adminer database manager allows you to easily export and import data from your WordPress database. It’s easier than phpMyAdmin and the server command line. Just search for “ARI Adminer” in the WordPress plugin directory and install it. This will allows you to move all of your Quiz and Survey Master data.

*Advice: Backup your database first. We recommend iThemes BackupBuddy.

Export Quiz and Survey Master Data

The first step in migrating your Quiz and Survey Master data is to export their tables via ARI Adminer. Quiz and Survey Master tables begin with wp_mlw and wp_wp_pro. If this sounds confusing, don’t worry. It’s easy!

Run the ARI Adminer tool against your WordPress database. Basically just accept the defaults and run the tool. Click Export in the top left of the tool. Leave the export settings at default except for the output. Change this to GZIP. If you don’t, the import will probably fail. Then select all of the tables and their data (two checkmarks) that begin with wp_mlw and wp_wp_pro. This is your Quiz and Survey Master data.

*Note: If your WordPress database uses something other than wp_ for table prefix, just look for the mlw and wp_pro tables with your prefix.

Prep New Site for Import

You need to install Quiz and Survey Master on your new site (same version as old site) and then ARI Adminer. Run the Adminer tool, find all of the _mlw and _wp_pro tables in the main screen and drop them. Then choose import on the left, and import your GZIP file under the File Upload section.

BOOM! That’s it! However, let’s say your WordPress site uses a different table prefix. Follow the next step:

Change the Table Names

In Adminer simply click on the table itself, click the alter table link, and then change the table name to the new database prefix in the Table Name field.

Now jump over to Quiz and Survey Master and you’ll see all of your old data.
